Stacey Alexander joined Elmendorf | Ryan in September, 2009. With more than 15 years of government, private sector and campaign experience in Washington, D.C., Stacey is recognized as a thoughtful strategist with a long re- cord of negotiating positive outcomes on difficult issues. From 2000 to 2009, Ms. Alexander served as Chief of Staff to Representative Jim Matheson (D-UT), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce and Science Commit- tees and a member of the Leadership of the Blue Dog Coalition.
As Chief of Staff to Congressman Matheson, Stacey worked closely with House Leadership, senior Committee and Blue Dog Coalition staff on a variety of legislative and political issues including energy, health care, trade and budget/ tax issues. Additionally, Ms. Alexander managed an 18 person operation and budgets exceeding $1 million annually.
Prior to her service in the United States House of Representatives, Stacey was a Senior Associate at APCO World- wide where she directed public affairs campaigns for both corporate and trade association clients. Her private sector experience contributed to her perspective and approach to various business issues and priorities on Capitol Hill.
A longtime political advisor, Stacey Alexander served as Deputy Political Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) from 1997 to 1998. She is an experienced campaign strategist who advised and as- sisted several successful Congressional campaigns while working at the DCCC from 1995 to 1998. Stacey began her career in Washington working for various non-profit public affairs campaigns.
Ms. Alexander attended Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She resides in Chevy Chase, MD, with her husband and son.
