Katie Boehret, a former national technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal, is joining our growing strategic content practice as a Senior Director. She brings strong skills as a communications strategist, issues expert and content creator and will work with Subject Matter clients on a variety of initiatives.

“It’s rare to find a communicator with strategic and issue expertise married with a deep understanding of the news media,” says John Siniff, Senior Vice President of Content at Subject Matter. “Clients are increasingly asking us to transform complex issues into accessible content that every audience can understand. Katie’s experience in breaking down cutting-edge technology for consumers will translate across the many issues we work on with our clients.”

Boehret’s Wall Street Journal column “The Digital Solution” helped everyday consumers make sense of technology. For nearly a dozen years, Boehret collaborated with tech sage Walt Mossberg to coordinate the Journal’s tech reviews and news coverage, and she subsequently helped Mossberg and Kara Swisher launch the technology site AllThingsD.com. She went on to hold senior editorial roles at Recode and The Verge. In 2016, Boehret transitioned from journalism to strategic communications in the Washington office of Burson-Marsteller.

“I’m excited to join Subject Matter for a lot of reasons, but especially because of its unique approach to creative advocacy,” Katie says. “Today’s communications environment is driven by smart, compelling content, and the Subject Matter team helps clients own their own messaging in an impactful way. I look forward to working on a broad range of issues in the tech world and beyond.”
